Battle for the Ages - News

Battle for the Ages returned to Covington’s Madison Theater on May 31st, 2014.

It was Round II for the Sweet Beats and Tumbling Dice, made all the more special by the fact that 2014 marked the Fiftieth Anniversary of The British Invasion!

A standing room only crowd was on hand to witness this epic performance, as these two great tribute bands slugged it out, hit after hit.

1964.

Beatlemania was sweeping the country.

WSAI-AM ruled the airwaves in Cincinnati; the DJ’s were known collectively as the WSAI Good Guys, and their dominance over the local radio market was unparalleled.

Several of the “Good Guys” were having a drink after work one evening, and decided to send a telegram to Beatles manager Brian Epstein, to inquire whether The Beatles would add Cincinnati to their upcoming summer tour of the US.  In the end, each of the WSAI disc jockeys would contribute $5,000 of his own money to sponsor the show, and guarantee the groups appearance.

The Beatles - and The British Invasion - were coming to the Queen City!

Battle for the Ages is thrilled to announce that - fifty years after this momentous occasion - local radio legend, and one of those original Good Guys, Dusty Rhodes, will be on hand to introduce both bands!

Thank you, Dusty.

It is truly our honour!

Special thanks to our friends at Class X!

By now, the entire country has met Lauren Hill, the courageous young Lawrenceburg, IN woman, tragically stricken with DIPG at the age of eighteen.

Lauren made it her mission to help eradicate this condition - and in so doing, gave the world a glowing example of grace, bravery, and determination.

On May 17th at Smale Riverfront Park in downtown Cincinnati, there will be a FREE performance of Battle for the Ages, in support of Lauren’s Fight for a Cure Foundation.  Tumbling Dice and The Sweet Beats are proud to honour her memory, and to contribute, in some small way, to her continuing mission.
